Our district has a strong history of providing high quality programs and facilities for our children and community. On May 17th of this year the Newfield Central School District residents will be voting on a capital project. The project is another step to continue enhancing our buildings and curriculum for current and future students.

In an effort to protect our past investments, the district’s Facilities Committee and the Board of Education worked hard to develop a plan. This plan outlines scope of work, among other things, needed to stay current with today’s standards. Items giving way to years of normal wear and tear are the main projects included in the scope of work. A complete replacement of the HVAC system in the elementary, middle and high school buildings is a prime example. This specific project will improve the overall educational experience for our children and will allow for future energy savings with the implementation of higher efficiency systems.
Community use of the buildings and grounds has been an important part of the Newfield identity. Of benefit to the community as well as the school district will be improvements to our athletic fields and renovations of the auditorium to allow for more seating.

Maintaining a focus on continually improving the health and safety of our children was a significant goal in the shaping of this project. The key to achieving this is by staying consistent with upgrades. A replacement of the bleachers in our high school gym is just one way we plan to keep our children safe. While the children are our priority, we also extensively considered the local community and their usage of our facilities during this planning process.

We remain determined to present a project that will not only improve the Newfield Central School District, but our community as a whole. More detailed explanation of this capital project will be provided during our community budget presentations in April and in the May budget newsletter.
