Good Evening,

Due to the rise in Covid cases locally as well as the number of staff that will be quarantined, the entire NCSD will continue full remote learning from Thursday, 11/19 -Tuesday, 11/24.  We are anticipating to reopen In-person learning on Monday, 11/30.  This includes all half day BOCES programs. No students should report to the buildings as they are all remote. This is a district decision made with an abundance of caution for our students, faculty, staff and community.

Full day Smith School students attending BOCES will be picked up at their homes and transported to BOCES and taken home at the end of the day.  Please look for communication from our transportation department.  New Visions students are able to attend classes at BOCES as well.  There will be staff in the buildings over this time period and all employees will be reachable via email.  As always, I can be reached via email or through the District Office.

I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you and your families, however this is the safest option for our district.

This Thursday, 11/19, at the Board of Education meeting, there will be further discussion about remote learning and the options we may need to explore as we move forward during this difficult time.

If you did not receive meals on Wednesday Nov. 18th pickup and would like to receive meals for your children, please send an email to Robin Wood at by Wednesday, 11/18, no later than 10 AM.  Pick up will be this Friday, 11/20, (12:30-1:30).  All meals are free. More information will be provided by Ms. Wood if needed.

Please connect with your teachers or administration as needed.  Instruction for all grade levels will follow the current teaching and learning schedule per our Remote Learning Plan sent to you back in October. Teachers have been asked to include this information in their Google Classrooms as well.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.  We will not let this stop the education of your students.  Please stay healthy and safe.

Eric Hartz

Interim Superintendent
