June 5, 2020 News and Updates

Hello families.

hope you are enjoying the warmer weather.  I know this has been a difficult time for everyone.  Never in history has a generation had to deal with a pandemic, social injustice, and an economic downfall all at once.  While we were not prepared to handle so many crises at one time, I hope that through education and working together, we can overcome the difficulties and be stronger than ever.  If you or your family are in need of support, please don't hesitate to call one of our counselors.  Their resources include outside services.

I can't believe there are only two weeks of school left!  There are many events scheduled that I want to share.  I have also included a link to a calendar to help you keep track of everything.JUNE 2020.pub  Details about each event have been sent out by building principals as well.

Food delivery:  The last food delivery of the school year will be on Tuesday, June 23.

Drop off/Pick up:  Beginning Monday, June 15, there are scheduled times for students to drop off items such as devices, library books, and instruments.  At this time, they can pick up any personal belongings they left in their locker or classroom.  The building principals sent out the schedule this morning.

Grade 5 Moving On Parade:  The parade will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 3:00 pm.  Parents are asked to drive cars around the bus circle as teachers line up on the sidewalks.  Each graduate will receive a gift bag from their teachers.  They will also receive a book from Mrs. Stamp/Carr.

Grade 8 Moving Up Ceremony:  The drive-by  moving up parade will be in front of the school  on Friday, June 19 at 4:30.  The teachers will have a bag of gifts and snacks for each graduate.

Senior Parade: Since our seniors are unable to hold a prom this year, we are going to honor them in a parade through town on Saturday, June 6, beginning at 12:00 pm.  Students will be escorted from the People's Baptist Church, down Main St., around the bus loop, then down Main St. to the Newfield Fire Hall.  Everyone is invited to support our seniors.

Elementary School Send Off Parade:  Back by popular demand, elementary students and families are invited to a parade on Friday, June 19, at 10:00 am to celebrate the end of the school year.

High School Graduation: Following regulations from Governor Cuomo, we will be having a Drive-In graduation ceremony for our seniors on Friday, June 26, at 7:00 pm.  Due to COVID, this special event is limited to graduates and their families.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
