VALEDICTORIAN AND SALUTATORIAN 2016



Spencer Charles King and Seamus Dayon Ober have achieved the highest academic averages for the Class of 2016.  They will represent their class as Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively.

Spencer King, son of John and Jolie King, has achieved a scholastic average of 98.38%.  Spencer received the Newfield Fire Company Science Award, Marine Scholastic Excellence Award, Board of Education Outstanding Freshmen Award, Leon Krause Memorial Award, Army Reserve Scholar Award, Clarkson University Leadership Award, Elmira College Key Award, NYS Attorney General Triple “C” Award, Hobart & William Smith College Finger Lakes Scholar Award, Carl Taber Technology Award and he also earned the Highest Average award for a sequence in Science, English and Social Studies.  Spencer achieved High Honor Roll and Student of Distinction every marking period throughout high school and has accumulated 30 credit hours of college coursework through Tompkins Cortland Community College.

In addition to his academic achievements, Spencer participated in Varsity Soccer (Captain), Varsity Basketball, National Honor Society and has been involved in a variety of school/community organizations that provide services to those in need.

Spencer plans to attend SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry to study Natural Resource Management.













Seamus Ober, son of Sarah Dayon and John Ober, has achieved a scholastic average of 97.77%.  Seamus received the Newfield Fire Company Math Award, University of Rochester-Bausch & Lomb Award, Alfred University Ceramic Association Scholastic Award, Clarkson University Achievement Award, Rensselaer Medalist Award, RIT Computing Medal Award and he also earned the Highest Average for a sequence in Math and Science.  Seamus has achieved High Honor Roll & Student of Distinction throughout his high school years and accumulated 49 credit hours of college coursework through Tompkins Cortland Community College.

In addition to his academic achievements, Seamus participated in Varsity Soccer, Travel Club, Interact Club, Drama Club and National Honor Society.  

In the fall, Seamus will be starting his undergraduate program at Clarkson University to study Engineering.
