EMPTY BOWLS DINNER -- JANUARY 9th
Our second Empty Bowls dinner was held on January 9th to raise money for the Newfield Kitchen Cupboard. This year the Newfield Art Department hosted the Empty Bowls event in the high school café with a free Festival of Learning preceding the event to showcase K-12 student learning about hunger and hunger-related issues.
Empty Bowls is an international project to fight hunger, personalized by artists on a local level. For a minimum donation of $10, guests could choose a bowl from more than one hundred bowls made by Newfield students and community members. These bowls were then filled up with delicious soup and a side of bread donated by local restaurants. Guests got to keep their bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world and all proceeds went to the Newfield Kitchen Cupboard.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors: Covered Bridge Market, Stella’s Barn, Hazelnut Kitchen, Ciao!, Bol, TST BOCES Culinary program, Cornell Dairy Bar, Panera, Wegmans, and GreenStar.
