ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPALThe Newfield Central School District is seeking an elementary assistant principal who is self-motivated, organized, and energetic. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of the Next Generation Standards and be skilled in appropriately handling student discipline, conflict management, and parent communications. Among other duties, the AP will be responsible for writing and managing the Pre-K and Title I grants and state reports, overseeing the early childhood programs including the after-school program and the before-school program, evaluating staff, organizing community outreach programs (ex. parenting classes), and supporting the building principal as needed. The ability to work well with others and good communication skills are important for success in this position. Please apply via OLAS no later than June 3. Anticipated start date is July 1.
 

INSTRUCTIONAL POSITIONS

The Newfield CSD is a rural, high needs district in Central NYS that qualifies for the teacher loan forgiveness program.

ELEMENTARY TEACHER  - The candidate will be responsible for planning, assessing and implementing the Common Core Learning Standards at the grade level assigned. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting students' social and emotional wellbeing, teaching math, ELA, reading, science and social studies while creating a welcoming atmosphere for students and their families. Apply via OLAS by May 31, 2019.

SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER - The candidate will be responsible for planning, assessing and implementing the Common Core Learning Standards for Global History and preparing students to be successful on the Global Regents Exam. The candidate may also be responsible for creating or teaching other electives in the social studies tenure area. Apply via OLAS by May 31, 2019.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER/BASKETBALL COACH - The candidate will be responsible for planning, assessing and implementing a rigorous PE program at the elementary level. Apply via OLAS by May 31, 2019.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER/BASKETBALL COACH - The candidate will be responsible for planning, assessing and implementing a rigorous PE program at the secondary level. Apply via OLAS by May 31, 2019.

SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST - The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of running a library and providing resources at the secondary level. Apply via OLAS by May 31, 2019.

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - Anticipated opening for a special education teacher in the Newfield Central School District to provide special education programming to students in a self-contained 12:1:1 classroom. The position requires flexibility, the ability to plan and manage students who are performing at different skill levels, the ability to manage paraprofessionals, open communication with parents, and skills to write and carry out IEPs. Minimum qualification: Certification in Special Education Grades 1-6; 7-12. The successful candidate will be energetic, flexible, have knowledge of Alternative Assessment requirements and curriculum modules, have strong communication skills, and the ability to manage student behaviors.The candidate will be responsible for delivering grade level content in a self-contained class at the elementary level. Apply via OLAS by May 31, 2019.

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - The Newfield Central School District is seeking a qualified special education teacher for an elementary position in a co-taught setting. Knowledge of modules and IEP writing as well as good communication skills and dedication to student success are a must. The successful candidate will perform all the duties of a certified special education teacher. This includes but is not limited to creating IEPs, progress monitoring, collecting data, modifying curriculum to meet individual student needs, coordinating services/programs with peers, creating open communication with parents and staff, carrying out testing modifications and supplemental aids, and advocating for student needs. Minimum qualification: certification  in Special education grades 1 - 6, although preference may be given to candidates with certification PK-12.The candidate will be responsible for co-teaching at the elementary level in  inclusion classes, providing individual focused reading instruction, and home tutoring a home-bound classified student with physical disabilities. SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER - The candidate will be responsible for making and maintaining home-school connections for at-risk students, providing IEP counseling, supporting the emotional and social development of students, identifying resources for families and staff, and other duties as assigned. Apply via OLAS by May 31, 2019.

ELEMENTARY GENERAL MUSIC TEACHER - A music teacher is needed for K-5 general music. The candidate must be certified in NYS as a music teacher, must play the piano and sing, be high-energy, be willing to work with the other Encore subject teachers, and provide assistance in organizing assemblies in addition to providing a rigorous, fun curriculum for elementary students. The ability to compose music is a plus.  Apply via OLAS by May 31, 2019.

PHYSICS TEACHER - This is a part time (0.2 FTE) position. The candidate must be certified in NYS as a physics teacher and have demonstrated skill in teaching and student success on the Physics Regents exam. Open until filled.

READING TEACHER - Anticipated opening for a middle school reading teacher for AIS and remedial reading classes. Start date September 1, 2019. Apply via OLAS by June 3, 2019.



 

NON-INSTRUCTIONAL POSITIONS

TEACHER AIDE - Position to start in September 2019.  Part-time 10-month position to work in classrooms and/or the afterschool programs .  Application deadline June 30, 2019.

BUS DRIVER - Position to start as soon as possible. Runs could be from 3 to 15 hours per week, depending on need. Athletic trips and field trips may be available. Application taken on a rolling basis.

MICROCOMPUTER SPECIALIST - This candidate will work under the supervision of the Director of Technology and Professional Development and provide technical assistance with software and hardware issues as well as other duties as assigned. We are seeking a motivated problem solver to support the technology program in a school environment. Enthusiasm for keeping the systems fully operational for the end user and being able to prioritize are required.

NETWORK SPECIALIST - This candidate will be a motivated technology professional with superior attention to detail in order to securely support the school network on a small budget. The ability to problems solve with the team and flexibililty are required. This candidate will work under the supervision of the Director of Technology and Professional Development and provide technical assistance with the technology network as well as other duties as assigned.

CLEANING SUPERVISOR - This candidate will work 2nd shift and supervise the cleaners and custodians on duty to make sure the buildings are cleaned and ready for the following day.
