Hurricane Harvey Supply Drive Hurricane Harvey Supply Drive: The Newfield Schools will be one of the drop off locations for donations for the victims of Hurrican Harvey sponsored by the United Way of Tompkins County on Saturday, September 9th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST WINNERS CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST WINNERS: Rachel Frank (gr. 12) and Sebastian Rainbow (gr. 7) were honored Friday, June 2 nd at a reception at TST BOCES for the regional Creative Writing Contest.  Their work was chosen from over 300 submissions from the 9 component districts in this region.   Rachel won first place in the story category and Sebastian won first place in the essay category.  Congratulations Rachel and Sebastian!!

CHAIN & COLOR RUN: Sources of Strength At a recent meeting of Newfield High School’s Sources of Strength (SOS) club, the group linked together hundreds of strips of paper into a massive paper chain.  The strips were filled out by high school students during the Sources of Strength Week in May. Each morning during homeroom, SOS highlighted one of the sources of strength (i.e. Monday was Positive Friends, Tuesday was Trusted Adults/Mentors, Wednesday was Family Support, etc.). RED PAW SENDOFF RED PAW SENDOFF: The elementary school  had its thank you send-off with the Cornell Hockey Red Paw Program volunteers. Some of these athletes have volunteered every semester for the past four years!!  Students and hockey players had a few rounds of kickball, followed by a special presentation at the May PBIS assembly. The rising-senior goalie, Hayden Stewart, gave a motivational speech to the kids about positive attitude, perseverance and helping others. It was wonderful!

FESTIVE TESTING FESTIVE TESTING: Thanks to Mrs. Millier, the testing atmosphere at the elementary school was very festive. She brought in balloons and put them throughout the hallways with the message, “You Rock!” The sixth grade team:  Mr. Gavurnik, Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Hawke, Mrs. Ching and Mr. Holm, wore neon during the ELA state testing  in order to remind students to highlight the text evidence!
