Even under stress, she has brought her students to higher levels and built excellent relationships with them. CAPITAL PROJECT VOTE FEBRUARY 13TH CAPITAL PROJECT VOTE FEBRUARY 13TH: The Newfield Central School District has the opportunity to complete the HVAC replacement in the middle school, replace the high school gym floor, install LED lighting, replace ceilings, renovate both the elementary and secondary kitchens, and take care of other building condition issues that may come to our attention over the next several years at no additional cost to taxpayers ! JANUARY TEACHER OF THE MONTH JANUARY TEACHER OF THE MONTH: Mrs. Chelsey Cooper and Ms. Katie Huckle are an awesome team this year. They have made many modifications to their curriculum and instruction in order to meet the diverse needs of their students, even when the expected help failed to arrive in the beginning of the year. They are excellent advocates for students and model positive teamwork. For all of these reasons, Mrs. Cooper and Ms. Huckle have been selected as Teacher of the Month for January. Congratulations!

Senior Area All-State Ensembles Senior Area All-State Ensembles: The Newfield Music Department is pleased to congratulate two High School students on their acceptance into the 2018 Senior Area All-State Orchestra and Chorus ensembles. These students were accepted based on their previous year’s NYSSMA Solo scores and will get to participate in a performing ensemble with other elite music students in grades 10 through 12 from across Central New York. MAINTENANCE HERO MAINTENANCE HERO: Steve Yaple, Facility and Security Manager at the Newfield Central School District received recognition as a nominee for the 2017 American Time Maintenance Hero Contest. Mr. Yaple received this recognition not only for his work as a district employee, but also for his volunteer efforts in the community and the school district. Hurricane Harvey Supply Drive Hurricane Harvey Supply Drive: The Newfield Schools will be one of the drop off locations for donations for the victims of Hurrican Harvey sponsored by the United Way of Tompkins County on Saturday, September 9th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST WINNERS CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST WINNERS: Rachel Frank (gr. 12) and Sebastian Rainbow (gr. 7) were honored Friday, June 2 nd at a reception at TST BOCES for the regional Creative Writing Contest.  Their work was chosen from over 300 submissions from the 9 component districts in this region.   Rachel won first place in the story category and Sebastian won first place in the essay category.  Congratulations Rachel and Sebastian!!
